What is Appraisal
Express©?
It's a service provided by
the Academy of Manuscript and Autograph that enables you to get
an expert’s opinion as to the value of an item that is for sale on
the internet.
How Does It Work?
An appraiser will visit the website, view the item, and
give their opinion as to the current
fair market value.
Current fair market value is the amount someone might receive when
selling their item to a dealer or at auction. It is also the amount
most government tax agencies recognize as the tax deductible amount
were the item donated to a charitable organization.
Our appraisal includes review of extant records of auction and
private sales, prevailing fair market value and trends forecasting,
and such other factors as content, condition, and relative demand
for the material.
